"Test Series on Crunchyroll"

And why is a comment on Test Series in General, instead of Media?

Because somebody at Crunchyroll screwed up, and this is all about reading the comments by sarcastic fans. Hurry, they'll probably fix this before the day is out.

Already did.

Just the incident itself gave me a pleasant memory fragment lookup, though. When I was a little kid perusing the TV listings* in the newspaper**, I was often intrigued by a program called To Be Announced, which seemed to be on random channels at random times with no obvious rhyme or reason to its scheduling. I was never able to catch it, though, so I never found out what it was about...

Yep, and I have fond memories of gutting the newspaper when I got home from school to snag the comics page and the tv guide page (as opposed to the Capital-T, Capital-G TV Guide magazine, which we also got for a while) in order to see if there was anything worth watching that night.

Random story time, but the tv guide played a part in making me cynical and jaded at a young age- I was drawn into Battletech by the animated series that ran for a while in the mid-90s, but I only caught it at the midpoint, so when it looped around for another run, I was looking forward to seeing the parts I missed. All was good . . . for a whole 3 Saturdays, then I wake up and turn on my TV to see something called "Bananas in Pyjamas" instead. This was Not Acceptable, so I grabbed the TV Guide to what was going on- did Battletech move timeslot? Nope, it was right there, in all-caps, right where it should be. This was more than elementary-aged me could handle. I shook the Guide at the TV, as though it could magically banish these goddamned fruit from the screen. Next Friday, I scrutinized the TV Guide to see if maybe this was just a one-off. Sure enough, there was "Battletech" in the lineup, so I set my alarm and went to sleep assuming that things would be alright in the morning. But when I turned on the TV . . .

Bananas. Fucking bananas.

"This is probably a stupid question, but . . ."

Oh, ye gods, those bananas. As Corwin said, "I thought I'd erased those memory sectors!"

Mine are permanently written, not from the show itself but from how it helps prove one of the more famous Rules of the Internet.

This reminds me of grade-school me rushing home from school on a given day in late spring or early fall to catch Super Friends on the Chicago-based TV station our cable company inexplicably carried, only to discover a Cubs game. (Wrigley Field didn't have lights until 1988, so Cubs home games were played in the afternoon back then.) My rage. My impotent preadolescent rage.

I... might have been responsible for some percentage of the Cubs' curse. I'm just sayin'.
