"DC " kills" off Captain Carrot and company."
|
In the category of "Let's really WTF": *spoiler notice* Let's take the DCU's funny-animal universe. (Earth-C) Put Superman in it, who isn't changed by the experience. His entry into Earth-C gifts a group of funny-animals with super powers, who become "Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew". It didn't take itself seriously, was a fun read as a kid. Anything with bad guys like Feline Faust or Debil-Dawg doesn't, y'know? Then, let's take the same funny-animals. We destroy their Earth (thanks Starro the Conquerer), hypnotize them into believing they're depowered, put them (and some of the C-equivalent "JLA" from their Earth-2, Earth C-minus) on an ark (cruise ship) filled with refugees. Then we somehow Boom Tube them to the DCU's main universe, sending the ship into re-entry from space (!) where they all turn into ordinary animals that are incapable of speech, but remain rational... ...which leads to Zatanna now having a super-hero rabbit (who is now a perfectly ordinary-looking rabbit) for a show partner as the rest of the team is...well...left sitting there at the ship looking stupid. End of series. What. The. F***. This was a three-part DC mini-series? |

The. F***. This was a three-part DC mini-series? Wow, that's sideways. The writer's buddies with Matt Groening, though, so. This is the kind of thing Grant Morrison would've done for Vertigo in the 90's that I would have held a sick fascination for. Also a little light digging shows that the events of Final Ark take place on Earth-26, and it's not really clear if that's exactly the same continuity as Earth-C-- I've always loved DC for making such a complicated continuity that basically makes every action undoable if you work hard enough for it. And, hey, he could've done a *lot* worse than winding up with Zatanna! I'd take that trade. :)

Dan Didio hates you, that's why. Seriously, are Didio and Quesada having a contest over who can be the biggest asshole? I think Didio was winning until One More Day came out. I fear to think how he's going to try to top that. Polychrome |

>Someone needs to walk up to Didio and Joey the Cheese <...> Great. Due to random mislinks in my brain, I now have the image of a yellowish scribbly-looking character as head of Marvel editorial, randomly declaring that Reed Richards "likes chocolate milk", Cyclops and Havok are "brother ladies", and Lockjaw is a "moon horsey". When quizzed on the continuity-shattering specifics of the infernal compact between Peter Parker and Mephisto, naturally, his only response is: "i pooted." - Lord Ilmartello!
