"Shoulda kept my mouth shut."

Oh, for fuck's sake.

In another thread I speculated that the Editors in Chief of Marvel and DC are having a contest to see who could be the bigger asshole.

Joe Quesada's most recent play is the One More Day retcon of 20 years of Spider-Man's history.

It appears Dan DiDio has made his response.

Edit: You probably shouldn't be looking at that at work, folks. Then again you probably shouldn't be reading this either.

Uhhh, I really doubt Dan DiDio had anything to do with that. It just different enough from the actual WW costume that I doubt Playboy even had to consult anyone at DC about it, and if they did, it was a 5 minute call to DC PR at best. And I'd personally fire any PR agent of mine who turned down such a request, because, what?

Obviously, I fail to see what so terribly damning about this. If this is such a travesty then why wasn't Rebecca Romijn's portrayal of Mystique in the X-Men films also taken to task? She spends most of the movie running around in full bodypaint and nothing else. Is this like the non-issue of that Mary Jane statue that had the intertubes in such an uproar? I never got the big deal of that, either. Cheesecake, both female *and* male, is a long standing tradition of comics. That they chose one of the strongest female characters in comics (you do know a woman runs Playboy, right?) to portray just makes it that much more appealing to me. I'm sad to read that it was just for the cover, otherwise I'd go out and buy a copy.

Terminologically speaking, male cheesecake is called "beefcake".

Apart from that, I have nothing to add.
