>It's been a while and the last thread got pretty full, so here's a new >one. > >Question: How well is the climate controlled on the Avalon >Pseudocontinent? Not very, most of the time. Sphere Control has been known to step in if anything that seems imminently apocalyptic brews up - it's unlikely, for instance, that they would permit an EF5 tornado to plow through downtown New Avalon, though fortunately the normal conditions are such that that's extremely unlikely to happen anyway - but things are largely permitted to take their natural course. They aren't, for instance, going to start fooling with the system just to prevent the Knights from getting rained out. There has to be a strong probability of loss of life. --G. -><- Benjamin D. Does Sphere Control have martial weather on tap? Like, in the unlikely event someone like the EA or even Big Fire landed a major military force on the pseudocontinent with the objective of seizing it intact (as opposed to just slagging it from their starships) could Sphere Control do things like send tornadoes, snowstorms, freezing rain (freezing rain is just complete murder on equipment of all kinds) at them? Randomize the day-night cycle just to fuck with them, that sort of thing? -Merc Keep Rat |

>Interesting. Does Sphere Control have martial weather on tap? Well, we know the SphereCon system can turn the sun red, with a few minutes' notice, so it's probably not out of the question. The problem with things like you suggest, though, is that they'd be just as much of a hindrance to the defenders. There are few situations that can be improved by tornadoes, for instance. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. Randomize the day-night cycle just to >fuck with them, that sort of thing? We already had something like that happen in Last Transport; Cortana needed Gryphon's authorization to access Sphere Control to change the ambient sunlight to that of a Red Sun, so as to hamper Zod's efforts in capturing/killing Kara Zor-El. However, the transition was nowhere near instantaneous, and Zod still had plenty in the tank to tangle with Kara, Raven, and Gryphon up until he finally was double-pounded with the fist sandwich. So yes, it's theoretically possible, but it's not instantaneous. Really, the sun thing was probably the fastest thing you can manage, anything else would be on the rate of hours to days for environmental factors to kick in. Not recommended, and for anything OTHER than the shifting of the frequency of solar radiation, liable to cause way more problems and damage than it'd solve. --- Philip

Had one of those questions come to mind when enjoying some UF source material, in this case Skyrim. Considering Tamriel, and thus Nirn are now part of the UF-verse, does this mean the various religious figures, both Aedric and Daedric, exist as well? I admit, I mostly ask because I just got done playing "The Mind of Madness" and find the mental image of Jack running into Sheogorath immensely amusing. -------------------------- CdrMike, Renegade Time Lord "I have questions, but number one is this: What in the name of sanity have you got on your head?"
