"anime terminology"

(from the 50+-post original Arpeggio thread in General)

>The scary archtype, though, is the yandere, which is best
>summed up as "the one who commits a murder-suicide so we can be
>together forever".

OK, here's a weird thing. I had never heard this term before the post this is quoted from...

... and over the past few days, as I've been slowly but diligently mining the K-On! fanart over at that "safe pics" site Nova linked in the Fleet of Fog H2G2 thread, I've run across it several times in the keywords. You know how Merc was musing in the K-On! Source Material thread that there's a breed of fan artists who get off on taking sweet and beautiful things and making them dark and fucked-up? Well, there's a small but vigorous colony of them in the K-On! fanartdom whose particular bent is recasting Ui Hirasawa's love for her sister in a minor key, depicting her as a hollow-eyed, fixedly smiling maniac who, e.g., tears everyone but herself and Yui out of the photos tacked to Yui's corkboard, and/or plots to murder Azusa.

Brr.

Well, one thing which may help, when you type in keywords for a search you can put in a negative search option, i.e. "-yandere", and then it will return all images *without* the indicated tag.

"This is probably a stupid question, but . . ."

I wish I could set up life like that. I'd add "-assholes(figurative)"* to my search terms and everything would be so much nicer, particularly in traffic.

* Obviously omitting (figurative) would be BAD.

Thanks, Gryphon! That created a MUCH-needed, and very tension-releasing absolutely BELLOWING laughter, ending with me in both tears and hiccups. Whooo.

You certainly did that. That, along with a MARVELOUS new comment heard on YouTube, brought much needed smiles.

The other comment? "Airship of verbal flatulence". Wonderful creation, it is.

Moe fandom loves their portmanteaus. Even when applied to their cute, adorable, bloodthirsty axe murderers.
