As far as what Digital Domain did%2C the answer is the majority of the effects including the major sequences and the bulk of the exterior ship stuff. Almost 400 shots total.%0D%0A%0D%0ANeat fact%3A Most of the closer shots during the collision are actually big models and not all cg. They built a 30 foot section of the front of the %5Bi%5DEnterprise%5B%2Fi%5D%27s saucer and rammed it into a similar section of the %5Bi%5DScimitar%5B%2Fi%5D. It was shot in slow motion to impart a greater sense of scale to the already huge models%2C and was also done upside down so as to get that nifty zero-g effect of debris floating away. Sheet lead or something similar was used in the hull to get that effect of the hullmetal peeling back. Extra debris%2C the burning bits of wrecked hull interior and exposed spaceframe%2C and extensions of the ship past the model were added digitally later. I love that they%27ll still do model work like that. In some cases it just looks better%2C and they%27ve become quite good at blending it with the cg stuff.%0D%0A%0D%0A%5Btable border%3D%220%22 cellspacing%3D%220%22 cellpadding%3D%220%22%5D%5Btr%5D%5Btd colspan%3D%222%22%5D%5Bhr size%3D%221%22 noshade%5D%5B%2Ftd%5D%5Btr%5D%5Btd%5Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fhomepage.mac.com%2Fwedge%2Fstuff%2Fnall.jpg%5B%2Ftd%5D%5Btd%5DChad Collier%0D%0AJ.
