A little digging led to a system setting in Win2K that causes the system to restart on BSOD worthy errors. So%2C kill that setting%2C try again%2C lo and behold a blue screen %3Con Win2K%2C this is not a normal or good sign%3E. Some digging and poking led to the discovery that the thing would BSOD when ripping disks %3CCDs%2C DVDs%2C etc%3E as well. %0D%0A%0D%0A   Since everything -had- been fine prior to this%2C I thought it was some software snafu%2C and eventually wiped the drive and did a clean reinstall. You%27d think %3Cif your familiar with %27Doze and its idiotsynchrocies%7Bnot a typo%7D%3E that would%27ve fixed it%2C right%3F Nope%2C still doing it. Damn%2C hardware problem then. Test different optical drives%2C different IDE cables%2C all show the same symptoms. Lovely%2C new mobo time%2C but at least it ought to work -right- for a change. So%2C I order a new mobo from a site located via PriceWatch%2C wait%2C check on the expected order%2C find it to be -canceled- with no notice or reason given.
