No warning about this was apparently given to Eclipse customers%2C just on monday those of us who wander by Bob%27s site were suddenly greeted with a 404.%0D%0A%0D%0ANow%2C I suppose it%27s just me%2C but given this sort of activity%2C doesn%27t the purchasing company have a legal responsibility to continue providing the services which their victem had contracted to provide%3F  I suppose its just me%2C but I always thought that when you aquired a company%2C you aquired its commitments as well as it%27s assests...  which in my mind would scream %27WTF is going on here%3F%27%3F

Hi%2C yeah%2C just got back a couple hours ago.%0D%0A%0D%0ANetCarrier bought out Eclipse over a year ago and really have been quite low-key about merging the electronic assets.  But basically%2C the weekend we left for our vacation%2C they finally got around to moving all the Eclipse accounts from NJ to NetCarrier hardware wherever the hell NetCarrier physically is.  In the process they %22dropped%22 a whole bunch of people%27s websites -- one tech told me they%27d messed up the DNS entries for the sites.  I was added to an existing trouble ticket%2C and after about 36 hours or so%2C I was back on the air save for my hit counters.%0D%0A%0D%0A%3EAs for Bob himself%2C he and the lovely Lady Peg are safe %0D%0A%3Eand sound%2C prepared to ride out the storm. See my response at the current bottom of the thread for what happened with the Eclipse accounts%2C but NetCarrier bought Eclipse more than a year ago%2C and has been very good about maintaining all the Eclipse servers and sites%3B they even put up a new web gateway for Eclipse mail a couple months ago.  They were just consolidating the hardware%2C so they weren%27t maintaining two different physical sites.  The side effects of this were all that was unexpected%2C really.%0D%0A%0D%0A%3ENow%2C I suppose it%27s just me%2C but given this sort of activity%2C doesn%27t %0D%0A%3Ethe purchasing company have a legal responsibility to continue %0D%0A%3Eproviding the services which their victem had contracted to provide%3F  %0D%0A%0D%0AAnd they have been.
