However%2C a note in the intro to this place seemed to be directed straight to me about such things%2C so here goes. %3A%29%0D%0A%0D%0ABasically%2C for the last month or so%2C the file transfer and direct connect functions of AIM have failed to work for me%28of course%2C using AIM in the first place could be my problem%2C according to some %3AP%29. I thought it was just a program fault%2C until I noted that when I tried MSN Messenger as an alternate%2C it too ran into the same error. A few weeks in further%2C and the ability to attach e-mail attachments also began running into the same wall%28notably%2C I use webmail programs exclusively%2C as I share the same internet account with the rest of the family and thus would be downloading all THEIR e-mail too if I used that account%29. %0D%0A%0D%0AGiven that my cable connection is sent to my computer via a router for billing purposes with our connection%28something about paying for two IP addresses if we connect to multiple PCs without one or something%29%2C and having run into peer to peer download denial systems in college%2C it%27s my prime suspect. However%2C the odd thing is that when the router was first installed%2C I had none of these problems. Rather%2C they all popped up within the last couple of months%2C and to the best of my knowledge%2C my dad hasn%27t altered anything on the router%27s settings since we bought it. Hopefully someone has run into something like this before%3F%0D%0A%0D%0AAlso%2C if specific details%28router type%2C connection%2C etc.%29 are needed%2C I can easilly go over to alternate methods of communication. Don%27t want to flood this with tech support stuff. %3A%29%0D%0A%0D%0A- OM 1|1|0|||1||RE%3A Today%27s technical puzzle for you.....|Gryphon||04:54:11|01/23/2006|%3EAlso%2C if specific details%28router type%2C connection%2C etc.%29 are needed%2C I %0D%0A%3Ecan easilly go over to alternate methods of communication. Don%27t want %0D%0A%3Eto flood this with tech support stuff. %3A%29 %0D%0A%0D%0AYep%2C that%27s the way. Establish connection%2C then move to PM%2C and everybody will still love you.%0D%0A%0D%0AUnfortunately%2C I haven%27t much to offer you%2C since I never do any of the things you%27re having trouble with. In general%2C it sounds like it might be some kind of port filtering problem - you might want to check with your ISP and see if they%27ve imposed any new filtering rules. Depending on the ISP%2C just because no one at your end asked for anything to be changed doesn%27t necessarily mean nothing has.%0D%0A%0D%0A--G.%0D%0A-%3E%3C-%0D%0ABenjamin D.
