When we first moved there%2C living on the outside corners of that horseshoe were a couple friends of my father%27s.  Both of those guys had professional water well-drilling companies.  So there was a lot of big equipment%2C a lot of industrial tools%2C and a lot of middling to large gauge steel pipe.%0D%0A%0D%0AIt started with%2C oh%2C 3 or 4%22 pipe%2C big enough to fit a tennis ball in the end snugly and about 4%27 long.  pipe was sealed on the other end and a hole cut out.  Insert the business end of an acetylene torch%2C start the gas%2C let the pipe file with gas.  Light said torch%2C pass lit torch by hole.%0D%0A%0D%0AYou have never seen a tennis ball travel so high%2C far%2C and fast.%0D%0A%0D%0AThese would be lofted at the other well guy%27s house%2C of course.%0D%0A%0D%0AThe last iteration I ever saw of this had graduated to a bit of pipe large enough to hold a %2Asoccer ball.%2A On at least one occasion the used a bit too much gas and actually managed to blow the soccer ball inside out.
