Right ankle is sprained%2C while the left... hooo boy.  I have several small ulcers%2C the largest one of which at the least has tested positive for MRSA.  I%27m on antibiotics and hopefully got it before it got into my blood%2C so there%27s that much off my back at least.%0D%0A%0D%0AExcept now I have gout in the left ankle as well%2C and don%27t know if the two interact at all %28what with gout playing holy hell with the soft tissues in the area and all%29.%0D%0A%0D%0AIn closing%3A  AAAAAAAAAARGH%21%21%21%0D%0A%0D%0APS%3A  %2Awhimper%2A%0D%0A%0D%0AEdit to add%3A  What really sucks in all of this is that there is very little useful information out there.  They say to change bandages %27often%27 but not HOW often.  Also apparently I%27m supposed to be using a DRY bandage%2C but the nurse who originally dressed the wound said to use neosporin%3F  Am I supposed to sanitize the bathtub after using it%2C to prevent spreading%2C or will the antibacterial body soap do that job for me%3F  Will Lysol work for that%2C or do I need to use something bleach based%3F  And for the love of God%2C I%27m tired of seeing site after site saying %27You%27re basically screwed for life%2C shun all human contact and treat this like an STD.%27

The infection is still worrisome%2C because the gauze pads still have yellow-green stains when I change them.  I%27ve never dealt with anything like this before%2C so I haven%27t a clue whether this is normal%2C a good sign%2C or a harbinger of my untimely demise.

Given the potential consequences of not%2C you shouldn%27t be concerned at all about ringing them whenever you have a question.

I%27ve got my fingers crossed that this means things are Going As Planned%2C since I still have four days left on antibiotics %28and fear not%2C I intend to ride out the full course%29.%0D%0A%0D%0AOne thing I had been doing wrong which may have contributed to the worrying signs is this%3A  I was following the nurse%27s advice and slathering the bandages with Neosporin.  I%27ve read numerous things over the past day that say this was definitely the Wrong Thing to Do%2C and looking at the papers they handed me confirms - with MRSA%2C you DO NOT use Neosporin or triple antibiotic cream.  I%27m about a week late in finding this out%2C but better late than an amputation.%0D%0A%0D%0ATo tell the truth%2C I couldn%27t exactly call anywhere over the weekend%2C because everything around here rolls up its sidewalk over Saturday and Sunday.  I%27ll try the clinic %28or the hospital%2C failing that%29 today%2C but they may not even talk to me since I have a %24650 bill with them that I have no way of paying.
