I don%27t think anyone%27s figured out just why this starts happening in the first place%2C but if this holds up in Phase II and Phase III%2C it%27s %5Bi%5Dhuge%5B%2Fi%5D. The article linked above mentions that a similar process %28using nanoparticles instead of white blood cells%29 was developed and researched at Northwestern %28nanoparticles could be significantly cheaper than reprocessed white blood cells for this%29%2C and that these types of treatments could be used to treat other autoimmune disorders %28e.g. lupus%29 and allergies %28such as shockingly lethal peanut allergies%29.%0D%0A%0D%0AOf course%2C it%27ll be some time before these treatments become approved for clinical use anywhere%2C but ... well%2C if the Phase II trials get funded%2C I hear Switzerland%27s a nice place to visit.%0D%0A%0D%0A%22Mathematics brought rigor to economics. Ever since I found out about MS in the first place%2C I%27ve wondered why it was so under-researched... Of course%2C I found out about it because the local chapter of the National MS Society was holing a fund-raising bike ride that I%27ve participated in every year since %28originally just for the biking%2C but now for both biking and disease awareness%29.%0D%0A%0D%0A %3Cshameless plug%3E %0D%0A%0D%0AThe MS Society helps fund research like this%2C but also gives direct help to those who suffer from MS. If you%27d like to help support the MS Society%2C I%27m riding this again this year 150 miles from Boston to P-town at the end of June and am still a bit short of my fundraising goal.
