I%27ve never been a huge comics person - I can count the number of physical issues I%27ve owned on one finger%2C and that one was bought for me when I was like... six.  And%2C to be truthful%2C I%27m not the world%27s biggest Cap fan %28Iron Man is much more my flavor of badass%29.  But what this writer is doing is shitting all over the legacy of a character that has almost certainly been around longer than he has.%0D%0A%0D%0AI... I think I%27ll take my vitriol elsewhere. It was framed a little like that scene at the end of %5Bi%5DNo Way Out%5B%2Fi%5D where you find out that Kevin Costner was the Soviet agent he%27d been hunting for throughout the film.  %28Um%2C spoilers.%29  All this happened shortly before the year-long weird Image-does-Marvel %22event%22%2C %5Bi%5DHeroes Reborn%5B%2Fi%5D %28not to be confused with the recent and unrelated TV series of the same name%29%2C and when they brought the proper versions of the characters back after %5Bi%5DReborn%5B%2Fi%5D had run its course%2C they didn%27t even bother %5Bi%5Dmentioning%5B%2Fi%5D it in %5Bi%5DInvincible Iron Man%5B%2Fi%5D again%2C which shows you what bullshit even Marvel themselves realized it was.%0D%0A%0D%0AMy point in bringing this up is twofold.  One%2C %5Bi%5Dnihil sub sole novum%5B%2Fi%5D%3B and two%2C that was bullshit and a insult to the character%2C but this Captain America thing... this is actually spitting in the faces of the character%27s creators.  Simon and Kirby were first-generation Americans whose parents were European Jews.  Kirby%27s father and mother were %5Bi%5DAustrian%5B%2Fi%5D.  These were men who knew what fascism looked like.  They created Captain America specifically to refute the likes of Hitler%2C who came into power when they were in their twenties.  Not for nothing is he shown punching the F%C3%BChrer right in the middle of his face on the cover of his first issue.  That may seem funny today%2C but at the time it was anything but. I%27ve finished the storyline mode%2C and done one or two freeplay elements within it... but I%27m finding my enthusiasm for doing more freeplay in that particular game to have waned considerably sooner than most of the LEGO games... and not because the gameplay is lackluster. I%27m debating whether or not I%27m taking the LEGO Marvel Avengers game off my Steam wishlist%2C actually%2C and that%27s not TT%27s fault at all.%0D%0A%0D%0AI%27d stop buying their comics%2C but... that would require I have been purchasing them%2C and I haven%27t subscribed to a monthly comic book in almost two decades now.
