I hadn%27t heard of him - or at least didn%27t remember having heard of him - before Geoff slipped me a copy of %22The %5Bi%5DMary Ellen Carter%5B%2Fi%5D%22 a couple years ago. Which is odd%2C since that maritime-acoustic-folk is big in this part of the world. There are a %5Bi%5Dlot%5B%2Fi%5D of acts that are at least superficially like Stan Rogers from Atlantic Canada and the New England coast.%0D%0A%0D%0AI don%27t usually go for that sound so much - I mean%2C I like sea chanties%2C and I don%27t have anything against other forms of maritime folk%2C but it%27s not something I%27d usually go to much trouble seeking out - but Rogers%27s songs are so detailed and evocative they just draw me into the world they%27re depicting.
