0|0|0|||1||Sometimes You Realize You Did It Wrong|Gryphon||20:36:49|11/05/2012|I was re-reading %5Bi%5DRequiem for a Lensman%5B%2Fi%5D earlier%2C reminding myself of some of the timing details%2C and it reminded me that I did a bit of the denouement completely%2C %5Bi%5Dstupidly%5B%2Fi%5D wrong.  Gryphon%27s had this terrible shock%2C right%2C he feels like it%27s knocked all the supports out from under the ramshackle framework that%27s been his increasingly complicated life since 2380%2C he needs to step back and regroup and get his shit together%2C right%3F  Fine%2C no problems there.  It makes sense and it opens up several interesting possibilities that get explored in the later part of S4 and in a couple side stories.  %5Bi%5DRaven%3A Blood Ties%5B%2Fi%5D%2C for instance%2C wouldn%27t work without it.%0D%0A%0D%0AExcept %5Bi%5Dhe doesn%27t take his dog with him.%5B%2Fi%5D  What kind of man has an experience like that%2C where he feels he has to retreat from all human contact for a while%2C and doesn%27t take his %5Bi%5Ddog%5B%2Fi%5D with him%3F%0D%0A%0D%0AThis first occurred to me shortly after the real Wolfgang %28although thanks to my mom%27s influence%2C we always called him Regal%29 died%2C and it%27s been %28like his death%29 nagging at a corner of me ever since.  It%27s just so %5Bi%5Dobviously stupid%5B%2Fi%5D that I think of it again every time I encounter that part of the storyline.%0D%0A%0D%0AI%27m not going to go back and retroactively change it now%2C because it would affect so many different items %28not just that movement%2C but subsequent parts of S4%2C and %5Bi%5DBlood Ties%5B%2Fi%5D%2C and the S4 annotations%2C because the rewrites would probably change the line counts%29%2C but it tasks me%2C Joachim%2C it tasks me%2C and I have to at least acknowledge that yes%2C that was a Schoolboy Error.%0D%0A%0D%0A-%3E%3C-%0D%0ABenjamin D. In any case%2C while it did seem a little strange%2C it wasn%27t too bad.  And by leaving Wolfgang with the people he trusted to care for him%2C Gryphon ensured that Wolfgang would be around for when he came back.%0D%0A%0D%0AI don%27t consider it an error so much as an odd%2C improbable choice.
