There are several illustrations in the %0D%0A%3Eofficial RGU artworks showing Juri being uncharacteristically %0D%0A%3Eaffectionate with Miki%2C including at least one where she%27s outright %0D%0A%3Evamping him and he%27s sort of going %22... help%3F I think%3F%22 It was that %0D%0A%3Eone that more or less inspired the schnapps scene. %3A%29 %0D%0A%0D%0ABack when I lived%2C ate%2C and slept Utena fandom%2C the standing joke there was that Miki was ALMOST a girl anyway%2C so that made it okay for Juri. %3A%29%0D%0A%0D%0A... in hindsight%2C that%27s rather demeaning to both of them%2C but it was considered a funny thing to say at the time. And Miki%27s voice actress is just that... a voice %5Bi%5Dactress%5B%2Fi%5D.%0D%0A%0D%0A%3E%3EIn real life I suspect the prevalence of long chains is tied to the %0D%0A%3E%3Elack of general social acceptance for polyfidelity%2C which pushes the %0D%0A%3E%3Epeople who are into that sort of thing into a subculture.%0D%0A%3E%0D%0A%3ETrue%2C and... well%2C I%27m not sure if it%27s not something people in UF%27s %0D%0A%3E25th century have to deal with as much%2C or if it%27s just not something %0D%0A%3Ethe central Symphony characters give much of a damn about. %0D%0A%0D%0AThey have to deal with it in at least some places on Earth. I think%3F I seem to recall Kaitlyn telling someone else at one point that while same-sex marriages were allowed in Zeta Cygni%2C they weren%27t allowed in the United States part of the EA at least. If the state isn%27t even okay with your parts not matching up%2C there probably isn%27t widespread societal acceptance of polyfidelity either.%0D%0A%0D%0AThe Doylist explanation%2C of course%2C is that twelve years ago the production team had no clue about how the Culture Wars were going to play out in the near future%2C let alone after four hundred years. The Watsonian explanation probably involves one of the numerous times that UF-America had an ugly%2C repressive authoritarian episode%2C resulting in rollbacks of rights.%0D%0A%0D%0A%28Sometimes when I go back through the parts of UF and the Featured Documents that deal explicitly with history and politics%2C mostly Redneck%27s stuff%2C I am left with the distinct impression that everyone SANE bailed out of Earth and headed for the colonies the second it was viable%2C leaving the homeworld to stew in it%27s own crazy juice and periodically immolate itself.%29%0D%0A%0D%0A-Merc%0D%0AKeep Rat%0D%0A%0D%0A%5Bsmall%5D%22Step 1%3A Write down the names of everyone you know. I find it ungracious of others when they find fault in people%2C or characters as this case might be%2C who are genuinely trying to fit another culture into their life. I really enjoy that Corwin takes cultures and entwines them with his own to create something new. %0D%0A%0D%0AI understand that if a person takes from another culture%2C just taking the good stuff%2C but not the actual work behind it%2C that it%27s a horrible thing to do.
