Sure%2C Kaname often found it annoying%2C and he supposed he would too%2C but in situations like this it would have been %5Bi%5Dimmensely%5B%2Fi%5D handy to just be able to psychically turn to the collective knowledge base of his extended family and ask%2C %22So... anyone have any idea why this Japanese battleship looks and talks like she%27s from the north of England%3F%22 His father would surely know.%0D%0A%0D%0AHe supposed he could simulate the effect with his Lens%2C but the process wasn%27t as seamless. His attention would visibly wander. The answer was probably also contained in the mass of dossiers Murakumo had pulled from the 14th Einherjar Navy Group%27s files%2C which he hadn%27t had a chance to review yet. He knew a thing or two about Earth%27s Second World War%2C but this particular detail had escaped him.%0D%0A%0D%0AAny road%2C Kong%C5%8D was here now%2C and to say that she wasn%27t what he had expected would have been something of an understatement. She was dressed in a sort of modified shrine maiden outfit that was very Japanese%2C but her face and voice were English all the way across the board. If not for the clothes%2C he would have assumed she was a Royal Navy ship.%0D%0A%0D%0AShe also seemed very agitated%2C which Corwin supposed he couldn%27t blame her for%2C since she had just discovered that there was a Fleet of Fog ship going by her name.%0D%0A%0D%0ACorwin let her get it out of her system%2C sitting and listening impassively while she railed against the indignity of discovering%E2%80%94in the middle of a mass meeting%2C no less%21%E2%80%94that such an incredible liberty had been taken with her name%2C her history%2C her very %5Bi%5Didentity%2C%5B%2Fi%5D apparently beginning %5Bi%5Dcenturies%5B%2Fi%5D ago%2C and she none the bloody wiser%21 How was she supposed to face her sister ships now%3F Or the cruisers and destroyers who looked up to her%3F How could she look any of her old shipmates in the eye knowing that this... this %5Bi%5Dalien machine%5B%2Fi%5D was going round telling people %5Bi%5Dshe%5B%2Fi%5D was the great battleship %5Bi%5DKong%C5%8D%5B%2Fi%5D%3F%0D%0A%0D%0A%22And just what%2C%22 she finished%2C leaning forward over his desk with her hands planted flat on top%2C %22do you propose to %5Bi%5Ddo%5B%2Fi%5D about it%2C Admiral%3F%22%0D%0A%0D%0AThey held that tableau for a moment%2C the battleship attempting %28without much success%2C for she had not the physical stature of%2C say%2C Musashi%29 to loom over the admiral%2C red-faced and slightly out of breath%3B the admiral sitting in his desk chair%2C both he and the crow perched on his shoulder looking a little quizzically back at her. At length%2C the expression on Kong%C5%8D%27s face shifted%2C changing slowly from fury to something like embarrassment.%0D%0A%0D%0A%22Have a seat and I%27ll tell you%2C%22 said Corwin pleasantly%2C as if she%27d come into his office and introduced herself like a normal person.%0D%0A%0D%0AKong%C5%8D blinked%2C slowly removed her hands from his desk%2C and sat. Murakumo%2C long accustomed to her volatile colleague%27s fits of bombast%2C blandly placed a cup of tea within her reach%2C then another for the admiral.%0D%0A%0D%0A%22It may reassure you to hear%2C%22 said Corwin with a mischievous twinkle in his eye%2C %22that you are %5Bi%5Dnothing like%5B%2Fi%5D your Fog counterpart.%22%0D%0A%0D%0AKong%C5%8D chuckled in spite of herself. %22I suppose that%27s good to know%2C%22 she agreed%2C sipping her tea.%0D%0A%0D%0A%22As for your closing question%2C%22 Corwin went on%2C %22the first order of business is to extract her.%22%0D%0A%0D%0AKong%C5%8D arched an eyebrow. %22%27Extract%27%3F%22%0D%0A%0D%0ACorwin nodded. %22She%27s still under Earthforce command%2C and I don%27t believe she%27s a willing participant. I don%27t know what hold they have over her%2C but I intend to find out. The way Operation AF unfolded%2C I wasn%27t able to get her out with the rest of her task force... but I promised her I wouldn%27t forget about her%2C and I promised my fleet we wouldn%27t leave anyone behind.%22%0D%0A%0D%0A%22So you%27re... what%3F Recruiting a fleet to storm Earth and get her out%3F%22%0D%0A%0D%0A%22Not quite. Going back to Earth with me isn%27t a requirement of joining my fleet. The only ships I take on that trip will be volunteers twice over. But that%27s one of the main aims of the mission%2C yes.%22%0D%0A%0D%0A%22Hm.%22 Kong%C5%8D sipped her tea thoughtfully. %22Well%2C I guess you%27d better count me in%2C desu.%22%5B%2Ffont%5D 1|1|0|||||RE%3A %28frag%29 RCFR v4|TsukaiStarburst||18:35:12|06/02/2023|[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jun-02-23 AT 06:35 PM (EDT)]Hooray%2C more Order of the Rose too%21%0D%0A%0D%0AI was just saying to other people earlier this week that I was kind of worried about this storyline%2C so. Which is basically the theme for the entire season.%0D%0A%0D%0AAt least they do show them reunited in the after-credits for the season.
