LAST EDITED ON Dec-27-17 AT 07:01 PM (EST)

ANAKIN
I hate sand. It's coarse and sharp and it gets everywhere. But everything here is smooth.

NALL experiences a sudden fit of hacking, choking coughs, so violent that he topples sideways off PADMÉ's shoulder to sprawl on his side on the floor.

PADMÉ
... Are you all right?

NALL
No. I'm dead. Child of the Corn over here killed me.

I just re-read this, and in my mind the aftermath of this scene is drawn from the scene in The Mask which shows the auto shop guys being taken to the hospital, except somehow Inazuma has used a torpedo instead.

INT. NIGHT. GRAF ZEPPELIN and INAZUMA are in a small hut, GRAF sitting as INAZUMA looks over data on a smartphone.

INAZUMA
(Disbelieving)
So Tenryuu isn't interested in the monster.

GRAF
Not that she's told me.

INAZUMA
(Sarcastically)
And she tells you everything?

GRAF
Talk to Tenryuu, she needs you on this.

INAZUMA
(Angrily)
She needs me in a cage?

GRAF
No one's going to put you in a...

INAZUMA
(Suddenly slamming her hands on the table)
STOP LYING TO ME!

GRAF ZEPPELIN is up on her feet in a fraction of a second, having manifested her turrets from her rigging to point at INAZUMA.

INAZUMA
(Placating)
I'm sorry, that was mean. I just wanted to see what you'd do. Why don't we do this the easy way, where you don't use that, and the other girl doesn't make a mess? Okay?

GRAF ZEPPELIN keeps her turrets pointed at INAZUMA.

INAZUMA
Graf?

GRAF ZEPPELIN finally lowers and then dismisses her turrets.

GRAF
(Speaking into an earpiece only now visible)
Stand down. We're good here.

EXT. NIGHT. A group of SHIELD shipgirls outside the shack lower their own turrets.

INAZUMA
(Bemused)
Just you and me?

French Battleship Princess
(sneering)
"Handle us"? You'll "handle us"? You know, you predecessors had much more respect!

FBP makes a pointing gesture towards YŪDACHI, signaling her underling Abyssals to step forward and raise their turrets to target the destroyer. Just before they open fire, YŪDACHI holds up her hand (palm open) towards them. Immediately the Abyssals begin shelling her, only for every one to come to a stop without detonating just a few inches from her hand. Once they've exhausted their magazines, YŪDACHI drops her hand, the expended shells falling to the floor.

French Battleship Princess
(deadpan)
Okay, you have some skill.

Upon reflection, I also love the idea of Shoebill as one of the non-aligned ambassadors on Babylon 5.

She thinks: her negotiating style is to listen quietly and respectfully to all parties and weigh the issues in a judicious and sympathetic manner

They think: her negotiating style is to sit in silent judgment on their every word and action, lacerating their very souls with her cold and scornful glare

She terrifies Vir.

The key word is 'appears'.

Vir has great hidden depths but they're hidden from him too. One of the appealing things about his character arc is how he learns to face his fears of both those around him and of failure.

Or to quote David Gemmell about a different but similar character:

"He is a lesser man than any here and yet a greater, for his fears are greater than yours, and yet he will also stand firm and die beside you."

D.

OUTSIDE. DAY. After coming to the rescue of TASHKENT, IOWA has engaged in hand-to-hand fighting with the WINTER SOLDIER. While they seem almost evenly matched, IOWA managed to get the upper hand long enough to rip off her opponent's mask, revealing...

IOWA
(shocked)
Bukki?

That the mysterious assassin is none other than FUBUKI, looking slightly older than we remember her. Her features look haggard and weary, with longer hair hanging disheveled around her.

FUBUKI/WINTER SOLDIER
(confused)
Who the hell is "Bukki"?

Well hell, if I'm already in debt for a monitor, might as well go for broke:

INTERIOR. MALL. As TASHKENT and IOWA descend down an escalator in civilian disguise, the former spots NE-CLASS riding the ascending escalator. Thinking quickly, she turns back to IOWA.

TASHKENT
(insistent)
Kiss me.

IOWA
(confused)
What?

TASHKENT
(matter of fact)
Public displays of affection make people very uncomfortable.

IOWA
(not sure where this is going)
Yes, they do.

TASHKENT pulls IOWA down into a kiss, holding it long enough for NE-CLASS to look away as she passes the two. Once she's out of eyesight, TASHKENT releases IOWA in time for them to step off the escalator.

TASHKENT
(airily)
You still uncomfortable?

IOWA
(visibly squirming)
That's not exactly the word I would use.

(I regret nothing!)

Arsene Lupin III sat in the unfamiliar car for a few moments before raising the obvious question. "What's this?"

"What?" Jigen replied curtly.

"This car. This stupid car. Where's the Fiat?"

Jigen failed to respond.

"The Fiat? Where's the Fiat?"

"The what?"

"The Fiat we used to have."

"I traded it."

"You traded the Fiat for this?"

"No, for a sniper rifle."

"A sniper rifle?" Lupin considered that for a moment. "Okay, I can see that. What the hell is this?"

"This was a bargain. I picked it up at the Avalon County police auction last spring. It's an old Avalon County police car. They were practically givin' 'em away."

"Well, thank you, pal. The day I get out of prison, my best friend picks me up in a police car."

There is quite a good chance, if you ask him at a con, that Scott would actually record this. He's said sillier.

I heard him once at a con panel having an argument with himself as Dinobot, Rattrap, Silverbolt and Waspinator… in that order. With almost no time to change voices. He also did his Wolverine and Scrappy voices during that.

He also got asked by a Gundam Wing fan if she coule give a hug, and then nearly got bowled over when he said yes. When they finished, he gave this big smile and said, “And some people ask me why I come to anime conventions… you don’t get love like that at a lot of others.” (And he was very careful to not do anything untoward.)

Not sure why I just thought of this the other day but I figured I'd toss it out there anyway.

   FIRE NATION TELEGRAPHIST
"The last airbender..."

He looks up from the radio, moving one of his earphones aside.

FIRE NATION TELEGRAPHIST
Transmission terminated at the source, sir.

PRINCE ZUKO

ZUKO gives him a dubious look, but says nothing.

I watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier the other day, and when it got to the bit with the fight in the elevator, all I could think of in the scene leading up to it was that other elevator-related scene Chris Evans did in The Losers. Which immediately gave me the mental image of Cap delivering Jensen's little speech to the guards from that scene in place of his "Before we do this, does anyone want to get off?" line.

CAPTAIN AMERICA
I warn you, I am a lethal killing machine. It was a secret government experiment. They did stuff to me. Spooky stuff... anal stuff. As the ancient Tibetan philosophy states, "Don't start none, won't be none."

I'm pretty sure if someone asked, Evans would do that scene in his "Captain America PSA" voice.

So yeah, in light of the boss man recently watching Captain America: The Winter Soldier the other day, I figured I'd finally get around to updating my theoretical cast of a MCU/Kancolle crossover. I did the original list seemingly eons ago, back when the MCU was in the middle of Phase 3 and now it's into Phase 5 (anybody else think it sounds like a 70s scifi TV series?) and we've had over 6 years of updates to Kancolle, so I figure it's time to catch up.

Kongō as Tony Stark/Iron Man - So yeah, in the original list this was Yūbari, but I've decided to recast for two reasons:

1) "Kongō" roughly translates as "adamantine" or "indestructible"

2) Next to Shimakaze (aka "Zekamashi"), Kongō has been one the longest enduring mascots of the franchise.

An unofficial third reason could be that Kongō also has a substance abuse problem, namely a crippling addiction to black tea.

"The truth is...I am Iron Man."

Iowa as Steven Rogers/Captain America - A kid from Brooklyn, Kancolle's first American shipgirl, and her in-game outfit couldn't be more American unless you gave her a bucket of KFC and a bottle of Coca-Cola.

"I can do this all day."

Bismarck as Thor Odinsson - So, big Teutonic blonde who's also a kid at heart? Yeah, I honestly didn't know how prophetic Gryphon reminding me of her fan reputation as "Big Akatsuki" would prove to be as the MCU went on. Just a warning to anybody who's not made it to Endgame yet, Thor's gonna go through some things...

“Your ancestors called it magic, and you call it science. Well, I come from a place where they’re one and the same thing.”

Ark Royal as Clint Barton/Hawkeye - Of all the carriers introduced in Kancolle since the beginning, the two British carriers are the only one that carry compound bows (Japanese carry yumi bows, Graf Zeppelin carries her AA guns like an SMG, Aquila has a Roman composite bow, and the Americans all have guns or turret SMGs). Ark also has a bit of a loner personality, with the only possible exception being her infatuation with Bismarck.

"You better call it Coulson, 'cause I'm starting to root for this guy."

Tashkent as Natasha Romanova/Black Widow - So I originally cast Graf as Natasha because Comrade Medium One had not yet been added to the game and while Comrade Big One (aka Gangut) had been her turrets were part of her rigging and I wanted a character that used turrets as "pistols." But now Tashkent exists, so she works perfectly for the role, especially if you go with the fan version of her as the diehard Soviet boat.

"I'm sorry, did I step on your moment?"

Inazuma as Dr. Bruce Banner/Hulk - For those who aren't familiar with Kancolle fandom, cute little sis Inazuma has a fan alter-ego named "Plasma-chan" who's basically that little inner demon we all have made manifest and allowed to rampage with monster strength and a scary smile.

"Puny god."

Shimakaze as Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver - The speedster of Kancolle even after all these years.

"You didn't see that coming?"

Hibiki/Verniy as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch - Comrade Tiny One is still just creepy enough to play Wanda even after all the business post-Endgame.

"You break the rules and you become a hero. I do it and I become the enemy. That doesn’t seem fair."

Hoppo-chan as Vision - This one was suggested for the original thread by drakensis and I still love it.

"Well...I was born yesterday."

Hiyō as Sam Wilson/Falcon - This is another name thing, in this case translating as "Flying Hawk."

"Look, whoever he used to be and the guy he is now, I don't think he's the kind you save. He's the kind you stop."

Musashi as T'Challa/Black Panther - I blame the folks over at Danbooru for this casting, though it makes sense for...obvious reasons.

"WAKANDA FOREVER!"

Fubuki as James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes/Winter Soldier - Again a name thing though this time a two-fer: She got the nickname "Bukki" from Kongō in the Kancolle anime and her name translates as "snowstorm."

"Who the hell is 'Bucky'?"

Akashi as Dr. Steven Strange - Originally the resident wrench wench of the Kancolle universe was cast Howard Stark to go with Yūbari being cast as Tony Stark, but since that role's been recast it seems sort of right to put the girl who's otherwise the "doctor" of the franchise as the Sorcerer Supreme.

"Dormammu, I've come to bargain."

Sendai as Peter Parker/Spider-Man - Gryphon suggested the quarkiest of the Sendai Sisters for this role in the original thread and it's grown on me over the years. Though it should be noted that this would be her "Kai Ni" refit self who's stylized as a stereotypical ninja, which goes well with Peter as doing more jumping and bouncing than most of the other cast.

(To Bucky) "You have a metal arm? That is AWESOME, dude!"

Ryūhō as Scott Lang/Ant-Man - Yes, I went with the short joke...and the boobs joke...and let's just move on.

"Pick on someone your own size!"

Tenryū - Nick Fury - Another Gryphon choice, the original Kancolle "big sis" got her own Kai Ni makeover about a year after the original list came out which changed her cardigan out for a badass jacket that goes well with the eyepatch that led to her being cast in this role.

"I recognise the council has made a decision, but given that it's a stupid-ass decision, I've elected to ignore it."

Ōyodo as Agent Philip "Phil" Coulson - I still like this casting choice even after all this time.

"If you try to escape, or play any sort of games with me, I will taze you and watch 'Supernanny' while you drool into the carpet."

Takao as Maria Hill - One of the more common choices in the early days of the game for a secretary.

"The news is loving you guys. Nobody else is."

Warspite as Agent Margaret "Peggy" Carter - Since Kongō was recast, it only seemed fitting to hand this role off to the most British of the Kancolle cast.

"You still don't know a bloody thing about women!"

And one last one for now...

Wo-chan as Loki Laufeyson - When I cast this role, it was because I needed a villain, Abyssals are the villains of Kancolle, and Wo-chan has a scepter that fit Loki's character in the original Avengers film. I honestly didn't know that the-powers-that-be would decide to make Loki the franchise's loveable anti-hero. Plus, admit it, "Woki" is worth at least a giggle.

"I have been FALLING for 30 MINUTES!"

And you don't want to know what happened when someone told Amelia Bedelia to make sure she was back in time for dinner.
