The montages in Real Genius weren't flashbacks, at least. :) (You may have noticed that the Symphony does not lack for Real Genius-style montages; heck, there are two in Wounded Rose alone. :)

Scoring battle scenes is harder than it looks... though I could actually see "Higher Place" working for a friendly duel - or, rather, given the song's tone, a duel between people who are somewhat more than friends, perhaps.

Mm, not necessarily. Dueling isn't necessarily "violence" in the same sense that busting some guy's head because he wasn't keeping his hands to himself is. In fact, when some pairs of characters do it, it's more like a dance. The expressiveness might appeal to her, once she has her feet a little more firmly under that whole "emotional feedback" thing...

All I can say is, keep an eye on her and see where she goes. :)
