Have you ever read any of Simon R. Green's Deathstalker books? The Cyberrace sounds remarkably similar to the Hadenmen from that series, they were cybernetically augmented supersoldiers that went haywire, turned on their creators, and started rampaging across the galaxy in giant gold star-cruisers. Then they all sealed themselves in giant tombs, I forget why. Or this just a conincidence?
