Truthfully, UF Doc isn't nearly as bizarre as, say, Lord F. In fact, once you take away the whole time/dimensional traveler/immortal doctor thing, and he's pretty much an ordinary guy...married to a humanized Salusian girl who happens to be distant royalty...with four immortal kids, a gun-crazy brother, and counts among his friends some of the most influential people in a military/para-military hierarchy (depending on when you ask).
Yup, just an ordinary guy. ;-)
