#0, Who are the Magnificent Ten?

I can understand if we as readers aren't yet supposed to know who the Magnificent Ten are, and I know that their membership changes over time, but I'm curious as to who the Magnificent Ten are as of Jan. 1 2410?

Why? Are you planning on trying to apprehend them?

Nope. I'm just fascinated with them as villains. I haven't seen all of Giant Robo, but liked what I saw way back when, and am curious about their adaptation to the UF universe.

You are an evil evil man, Gryph.

Couple of surprises there. And I wonder if #7 and #10 met in Argentina. :D

(BTW, what happened to #7's first minion, Max?)

His abilities were judged insufficient to qualify for minionship in Big Fire?

Max was demoted to secondary minion?

Blue Meany Prime isn't actually a member of the Ten, but Big Fire's disinformation campaign is working?

The only certainty is that I'm speculating with very little information...

Gryph, are you *sure* you want to make jokes like that? Need I remind you that this is the forum where the majority voted for "Crisis of Infinite Chefs" and "Have HL-Gryphon wear a loud shirt and khaki pants"?

Now I'm going to hopelessly wish this was real, because that would be a foe truly worthy of Kaitlyn. And Jeremy would get along with Corwin so well.

Yes, well...now you have to figure out if
A) they've been brainwashed into working for Big Fire,
B) Vic is mind-controlling Ben,
C) they're part of SA # I Don't Know What, doing a long-term infiltration,
or
D) it's something beyond what we can imagine, but not beyond what Gryphon has imagined.

Personally, I'm going with (D) until further notice.

Have fun.

If this is dated before the events of "Blades" in 2412, is it safe to assume that Atros Eternas is still spending a year dead for tax purposes...?

I'm going to go way out on a limb here and guess that the first five are genuine, the last five are jokes, Red Mask is Clarissa, and whichever IPO analyzer compiled this list got one heck of a chewing out. ^.^

Well, they knew about "Agent A" before January 1, 2410 (Rediscovery), so unless you assume a major change between December 2, 2409 and the flash traffic...

I'm pretty sure that Red mask is actually a villan from Giant Robo, actually, with Big Gold being a kind of...Giant Robo copy. but then, I'm basing this on my playing of Super Robot Wars Alpha, in japanese, which I don't understand. There was definitely a pseudo Giant Robo though...And there was also two different models of Ginrei Robo. A giant robot that looks just like Ginrei..including her chinese dress.

But anyhow, some of these are OBVIOUSLY fake...geez people, just repeat to yourself it's just a show I should really just relax....

There's also a rather nasty robotic critter from Iczer called 'Big Gold.'

>I'm pretty sure that Red mask is actually a villan from Giant Robo,

"The Red Mask" was also the name that the Joker (from Batman, natch) used in his original appearance -- up until the point he took his dive into chemical wastes and came out of it bleached, greenhaired and insane... You can see a replay of the Joker's origin story (embedded within a context of debatable accuracy) in Miller's "The Killing Joke".

(Hence, btw, my earlier post about "joking".)

Well, "Red Hood", actually, but the idea is the important thing.

Red Mask (no "the") is indeed an actual Magnificent Ten member from Giant Robo: The Night the Earth Stood Still. He's sort of a super-ninja-type guy whose giant robot (everybody in that version of the Ten has one) is a magically animated giant yellow stone statue called "Big Gold".

And, of course, neither of these are to be confused with the Red Eye, that urban legend-slash-relic of old horror comics, or Red X, a mysterious New Avalon vigilante believed to be an ex-Sky Raider on the hunt for his former co-villains.

Oooh... I like Red X... don't know any of the others... I certainly wouldn't mind seeing him show up... maybe an encounter with DD or Hammer in Hell's Kitchen? I can easily see DD and Red X going after the same guy from opposite directions and butting heads over methods...

Red X may, in this case, be the Teen Titans TV series crook with a whole beltload (and then some) of interesting toys, all themed after.. well.. big, red X's.
