FUCKUP is a computer system Zoner created quite some time ago. It wasn't ever really intended to be an AI, but sometimes these things happen if you leave huge computers connected to all the major knowledge bases of the galaxy long enough. But no, while the Discordian Confederation as a polity is unlikely to appear again, there is quite certainly a Discordian element remaining in the UF universe. I mean, look at Zoner's post-Twilight state, and the Exile events that are flashed back therein. Eris is out there, and She has followers. Surely you didn't miss Dr. Duke's reference to the Eschaton in conversation with Zoner. This vaguely implies that they're one of the following:

a) Illuminati
b) Trying to stop the Illuminati
c) both

There's no reason to deprecate the Illuminatus influences in UF's past; just as long as we understand that they're general influences, part of the background hum of the universe, and not specific plot structures to which we must be slaves. :)
