As wedge has noted, that's easy-peasy now, let alone in the 25th century. The problem is that the only thing COGENT returns if you run Nick's DNA against it is his own IPO personnel file. Whoever his Detian forebear is, he (or she) is apparently not in the system. This is not unusual, given that the whole Wedge Defense Force HR database (and most of the pre-Exile Detians were, or had been, in the WDF) Went Away in 2288.
