I was working at a booth. he wasn't wearing his badge. I'd never seen a picture of him and gave him the standard booth spiel (in this case, about Illiad doing a book signing with ESR at the O'Reilly booth in 20 minutes or so).

He just sort of blinked and said "Don't you know me? I'm Eric S. Raymond."

first thing that came to mind popped up, much to everyone's amusement. I think we're on better terms now, or at least he doesn't remember me. ;)
