I find it difficult as well, and I'm never quite happy with the way the bits come out - it's very hard to portray the kind of dynamism that a real musical performance has when you have to keep stopping to describe it in the first place. Still, the ones in Wounded Rose don't suck, if I do say it myself.

>Anyway, you nailed the band "feel" dead-on. How did you know?

I was a band geek in high school - concert band and stage (jazz/swing) band - and when we were really cooking, the stage band had that kind of feel to it. We went on a road trip to Montreal once for Performing Arts Abroad, and though there were about thirty people in the band and not all of them got along, there was a smaller subgroup I was part of that had that sort of dynamic. When things were going right. The rest is just the amplification effect of nostalgia and the fact that everything, friendship and enmity alike, runs a little deeper in the UF universe.

See above.

>Item five: BASEBALL! I thought I was like the only fan left!

That scene might have been tougher than the music! It's like portraying a battle, except with stricter rules. (I had a completely bogus play in there at one point, but Truss caught it.) I'm glad you liked it.

(Then how did you spot the reference? :)

Zoner's answered this one, so I don't have to go far, except to say that it's a very cool show, one of my all-time favorites, and a character from it will be appearing in Christmas Rose.
