I've been waiting for someone to say something like that since Hunted Rose was first plotted out (which was, if memory serves, while Questions of Faith was being written). Thank you, thank you, thank you. }:-{D

Harcourt McKenzie was named by his (now deceased) grandfather after a dear friend of the family, the infamous con man Harcourt Fenton Mudd. Mac is ashamed of his middle name for two reasons: to most of the Federation, Mudd is a notorious con man; and to most of the Freespacers, Mudd is a notorious -incompetent- con man. Thankfully there is no blood relation, and Mac's father left the smuggling business when dear old Granddad was killed.

There's a story in that, but I've only written the introduction thus far.

Alas, Mac will not get many more chances to shine as he might in HR and in the upcoming entr'acte. He was meant to be the token ordinary guy, and once things settle down he'll go back to being ordinary... with a noticable anarchic streak. }:-{D

It's not like we didn't give you plenty of warning... }:-{D
