At one point my voicemail message consisted of:

"Hello?" <pause> "Hey, how are you?" <pause> "That's great. This isn't actually me, it's my voicemail message, so if you could leave a message about what you were trying to tell me about, along with a number and a name if I don't have it, I'd be happier than you probably are right now."

Another time, my answering machine message was:

"Hi, I'm busy traveling through time right now, so please leave a message and I'll have already gotten back to you."
