CSI: New Avalon Volume Three

1. Weapons of Mass Distortion
The Crystal Method, Legion of Boom (2004)

Remarks: Fight scene, chase scene, investigation montage, what isn't this song good for? Well, I suppose it wouldn't really fit in a love scene. At least not my kind of love scene.

2. A View to a Kill
Duran Duran (single, 1985)

Remarks: Weirdly appropriate lab music.

3. Get It On
Diffuser, Making the Grade (2003)

Remarks: "I'm trying not to bend; I'm playing like I'm hard to get. With all this pressure, I will wind up snapping in the end."

4. Misirlou
Agent Orange, Living in Darkness (1981)

Remarks: We were somewhere around Elstree, on the edge of the city, when the drugs began to take hold.

5. Bones Theme (Squints Mix by DJ Corporate)
The Crystal Method (single, 2007)

Remarks: Okay, it's from a different show, but still, it is lab montage music.

6. Battle Without Honor or Humanity
Tomoyasu Hotei, Electric Samurai (2004)

Remarks: Of the three versions of this song, this is the one that's become all but ubiquitous in pop culture in the last couple of years. But what the hell - that's because it kicks ass.

7. Never Too Late (Remix)
Journey, Generations (2005)

Remarks: In UF, Kate wrote this for the Art of Noise to debut at Corwin's wedding feast ("reception" is so formal-sounding). It immediately became one of her father's favorites - though of course, thematically speaking, it's nothing to do with him.

8. Praying to a New God
Wang Chung, The Warmer Side of Cool (1989)

Remarks: The club scene in Eleanor City is curiously retro, even by UF-universe standards.

9. You Know My Name
Chris Cornell, Carry On (2007)

Remarks: "If you think you've won, you never saw me change the game that we have been playing."

10. Before You Die
Bad Religion, New Maps of Hell (2007)

Remarks: Though she knows in an abstract sort of way what the title entails, Catherine's never fully considered what it means for Lindsey to be a Duelist - and she's never seen her in action, either.

11. Theme from Ultraman
Tak Matsumoto, Ultraman (motion picture soundtrack, 2005)

Remarks: The movie wasn't as great as one might have hoped, but man, what a theme song. The soaring guitar line is perfect for a character who's just discovered the very personal joy of flight.

12. Pipeline
Agent Orange, Living in Darkness (1981)

Remarks: Traffic surfing on the roof of the Tahoe: not recommended for amateurs.

13. I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide
ZZ Top, Degüello (1979)

Remarks: In point of fact, Greg is probably neither bad nor nationwide, but there are times, now that he's field-rated, when he feels that way.

14. Theme from S.W.A.T.
Rhythm Heritage, Disco-fied (1975)

Remarks: Repo Man spends his life getting into tense situations.

15. Shakedown
Bob Seger, Beverly Hills Cop II (motion picture soundtrack, 1987)

Remarks: "No matter what you think you pulled, you'll find it's not enough." Unofficial day shift anthem.

16. Into the Now
Tesla, Into the Now (2004)

Remarks: "Wipe away the fear of the unknown." Heavier lab music for heavier science.

17. The Shape of Things to Come
The Ramones, Acid Eaters (1993)

Remarks: "I'm not the galaxy's greatest supporter of change." - Dr. G. Grissom, August 20, 2410

18. Smuggler's Blues
Glenn Frey, The Allnighter (1984)

Remarks: Being one of the great crossroads of the galaxy is not without its price.

19. Barrett's Privateers
Stan Rogers, Between the Breaks... Live! (1979)

Remarks: God damn them all!
