Not only was it pretty much all over before he had a chance to consciously react, it wouldn't have made any difference; the Sardak wasn't just full-auto, it had been modified so that, once fired, it would not stop until empty. Army .45s sometimes develop that irritating and dangerous habit in real life, if certain parts become overly worn - the hammer doesn't cock, but instead follows the slide back into battery and sets off the next round, lather, rinse, repeat until magazine is empty.
