***WARNING! SPOILER ALERT!***

I don't think it's so much a lapse in their judgment, as their inability to bring back-up is explained in the following paragraph:

Brass sighed. "We should have brought more people with us. A
tac team. Or at least Ragnarsson."

"I don't think Sgt. Ragnarsson would have fit through the door,
Jim," Grissom pointed out. "Anyway, we didn't have more people to
bring. Miss Broadbank's little campaign of terror saw to that - by
design, I expect."

All in all, I was pleasantly amazed at how wonderfully meaty and fulfilling this installation was. There was so much going one: the CSI becoming part of the CID; the Klingon bank robbery (hah! Shades of Ocean's 11, for some reason); Cath & Nick earning the Lens; and Grissom's revelation as a Jedi Knight. Very big scope, I felt.

I look forward to how the next installment handles the cliffhangers: Ecklie's identity, Project "Brightest Day", Clarissa's exposure... and Master Sgt. as "Dad" (maybe I'm reading too much into the last one, but I'm really curious as to read the back-story of why she calls him "Dad").

One quick note on a small mechanical error: duplicated letter in the following sentence:

At that point, hhe made certain that each of them was
accompanied not only by tactical personnel, but also by at least one
member of a Special Assignment group.

To Gryphon & The Usual Suspects -- thanks again for a great Christmas present. Please keep up the great work.

Hope all is well with you and yours,
-T.Z.
