15min of exhaustive use of the grep command on my UF directory found no trace of UF Gryph ever getting one. He never specifies what degree he was working on at Salusia Tech in 'On a Winter's Day', and never refers to the time in any other place I can find. Gryph did pick up a medical degree in Hopelessly Lost, so that's probably where the idea came from.
