A good plan. I've survived without watching all of the source material, but it does deepen the enjoyment.

Nothing we've ever seen says her backstory is fabricated. At this point, it should be clear that she's been told lies.

Also, if you want to keep going down the rabbit hole of source material, Eiko is from Project A-ko. I've never watched it because the summary on the box didn't grab my interest, but my tastes are not universal.

I'd recommend reading The Universe According to Chris first. Chris and Katie are part of Book Three, and I think it would help to have the introduction.
