Of course, in that universe, "fighter" status means that it only outweighs the average seagoing battleship... Yes, I'm exaggerrating, but when a ship to ship missile is quoted at 50 tons, and all comers are fielding ~2.5 mile slabs of self propelled armor, well...
Y'know, it occurs to me that the Shrikes actually kinda match the WDF design philosophy. Fast, tough, and built around a single big@$$ gun.
