The Experts of Justice (formally, the Interstellar Police Organization) were founded in 2390 as a response to the fact that, following the War of Corporate Occupation, the galaxy got weirder, not more stable. Lensmen are a subset of Experts; Gray Lensmen are a subset of Lensmen. All of that (well, except for the date, but that's in the New Avalon H2G2 writeup) can be glarked from context.

The circumstances surrounding the IPO's founding, as well as more information about the UF version of the Lens and its bearers, will be related in the seventh part of Twilight, assuming Zoner helps me get it done sometime.

Metaspace is basically the version of hyperspace they use in Babylon 5. We already had something called hyperspace, so it got a new name.
