I have that kind of effect on people. I'm not entirely comfortable dealing with people in social situations, so I tend to revert to extreme formality... such as calling 16 year old kids working in the movie theater "Sir" or "Ma'am".

Of course, it could also just be because I'm horrible with names and faces. :)
