And that's the easy part. How many of them will see him as a (much) younger brother and produce baby photos and old anecdotes anytime he has a guest?

David Drake did some interesting Norse stuff in Northworld, once you get past the sf trappings. He did base if off the Edda.
Also, I recommend Linda Evans' novel Sleipnir. A very gritty look at the Norse that's got very little in common with Sonoda's Norns. Good book though.
