Yep. I worked in Mini-DAKA for a while, until I got pissed off at the manager and deliberately got myself fired. (Stopped showing up, started talking back, etc. Just to see how long it'd take them to can me.)

It didn't happen just like that of course - it was me and this mellow stoner named 'Oz' who was also on duty. For some reason we had NO business one day, and we got stupid bored. And we had restocked everything and cleaned several times. And shooting sandwich toothpicks (you know, the ones with the colored plastic frizz on one end) into the ceiling through a straw can only entertain you for so long...

So we started deep frying things.

I was the brainiac who fill the basket.

Hey, Oz was a year or two ahead of me in college and he didn't stop me either.

And yes, we both stood there looking at it - and then looked at each other as we simultaneously remembered our physics classes and heat energy. And we ran.

But yeah, we deep fried most everything and taste tested much of it.

I was kind of hoping a deep fried Hostess pie would be like the old McDonalds pies. They aren't.

Edit: Oh, if it isn't obvious, I penned that scene.
