(shrug) I haven't seen season 5, either, so it must have been sometime before that.

Which means only that his family isn't having an occasion that would require his presence. I never said they were a close family...

Not that I can think of. Occasionally, characters will get dispossessed or moved around as the plots of stories evolve around them, but I can't think offhand of a case in which the character is the part that's packed up and signed off early.
