Not particularly. Some of his early juvenile work (Have Space Suit, Will Travel, for instance) is pleasant, but when he started getting into his Space Jingoist phase, my interest started waning, and by the time he hit his Dirty Old Man in Outer Space phase, I was completely turned off. I haven't even attempted Stranger in a Strange Land.

Since it's not very likely to be important for anything other than background color, I'll just tell you; among Devlin's more distinguished forbears are the 19th-century space explorer John Carter (of Mars fame) and 20th-century occultist Randolph Carter (best known as a dream-questor). I believe real-life archeologist Howard Carter was supposedly a cousin or some such of Randolph's, but I can't remember if that's actually in one of Lovecraft's stories, or if it's an artifact of some post-written Lovecraftian pastiche.
