I just got into Schlock Mercenary about 2 weeks ago. I'd seen references and quotes for years, especially some of the 77 Maxims, but never actually read the comic. I recently ran across a link to the comic, and it interested me enough that I followed the carbo-silicate amorph down the hole and binged the entire archive over the course of a week.
