About 3.5 years ago, I posted a video to Oo-toob. There's another thread about it in General.

That clip has, over the past few years, amassed a fair number of views. In fits and starts, with a few larger rushes, it had reached some 600 and some thousand views, as it appeared in some suggestions list or other.

Until about three days ago. Thats when it apparently got noted by the "almighty algorithm", to quote Odin Abbott.

It made about 50 thousand views in some 12 hours, and which I only noticed because there were something like near ten comments notifications. This surprised me but I was also quite happy about it. Oh, boy, if I'd known.

There was another 100 thousand views, up until about 7pm yesterday, and I found out that, if you have more than 9 comments, it just says "9+". Which boggled me mightily, both views and comments. Ok, sure, the list I'd been put on was on some sort of heavy rotation, but still. Heh heheh...

From 7 yesterday to 7 today, there was another 250k views, and I was completely shocked. Seriously, what the hell was WRONG with these people?!

In the four hours from 7 to 11...there was another FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND VIEWS!!!

It's now just around 1 at night, and I'm going to bed. I'm honestly scared to look. In about 3 days, I've gotten more than 800 thousand views on a video. I mean, it's one of the best damn scenes in one of the best damn documentary series ever made, but seriously, what the FUCK!? I'd suspect an April Fools!

I'm going to hide under my covers until the world makes sense again.

OH! Now I remember this one. It did indeed show up in my YT feed at work, which I am not logged into with my home account. I knew I'd remembered seeing it before and now I know why. =)

I thought it'd over after I woke up, the morning after my post. Yeah...not so much. Earlier this morning(CET), it passed 3.1 million views. In 6 days.

At this point, I'm going with "I'm in some weird Dr. Who episode".
