Had something similar happen to me, back at the height of the CB Radio craze. Jolted out of a sound sleep about midnight by someone's voice coming out of *every* speaker in my house. I was home alone, and seriously freaked out. Turns out one of the neighbors was testing a seriously illegal power mod on his home base unit. (50 watts on a CB is a no-no, kids; I was 12 and I knew the law better than that. Besides, his base hum was interfering with *my* base unit even when he wasn't transmitting.)

There may or may not have been an anonymous complaint called in to the local FCC office after the third night of this :) , but there wasn't a fourth.
