Art criticism doesn't have to be made up, but the unfortunate fact is that the people who take it the most seriously are the ones who are most likely to Completely Fail To Get It, to fail to understand its purpose. The purpose of Art Criticism is to attempt to divine the artist's goal and assess how well the work achieves that goal, not to pass judgement on it based on some abstract Ideal Of High Art. "Secret Film" is actually commentary on the ridiculousness of requiring all art to make a statement, and the inability of modern art critics to appreciate beauty for its own sake, but I probably wouldn't have picked up on that without the hints from Gryphon, so it isn't that great. On the other hand, "Vanity Projects" stands a fairly good chance of conveying the message Gryph meant it to without help, and the two abstract works perform their function of "being pretty" perfectly well, so all three are pretty good.
