"Glockenspiel", the musical instrument, comes from the German nouns Glocken (bells) and Spiel (play). Spiel also means "game".

This leads me inescapably to the mental image of a near-future Euro-cyberpunk setting in which German-speaking punks' name for a gunfight is das Glockenspiel—the Game of Glocks.

An extension to this thought- The term das Glockenspiel originally came from the police, in a dismissive way: as long as they don't hear anything heavier than pistols, the cops aren't going to bother to intervene.

"We don't throw grenades in Nachtburg, because then die Polizei have to do paperwork. And if we make their lives difficult, they make the lives of every chromeboy in the general vicinity very difficult."

"This is probably a stupid question, but . . ."

I'm not sure which dismays me more, that I somehow did that, or that nobody else noticed.

What about, "Noticed, but didn't worry about it?"

When it comes to the forum, I prefer to point out errors when I can get comedy out of it, rather than pointing out every failing like an obnoxious twit.

Put me down for the "noticed, but didn't want to be a nuisance about it" category. I figured if and when people wanted to say more on the idea we could worry about it then.

Glockenspiel sounds like a rather obscure hybrid of Panzer Kunst & Gun Kata.

Perhaps Alita Ironheart studied with the Grammaton Clerics at some point?

Obviously been too long since I last read Alita, because my mind translated "Panzer Kunst" into that show I like to call "Tokyo Drift, Tank edition"
