#0, a fun fact

The United Nations' International Civil Aviation Organization, which (as its name suggests) sets rules and procedures for non-military aviation around the world, has defined a global array of virtual waypoints for aircraft to use for navigation. They have five-letter names that are intended to be easily remembered, and waypoints near each other have to have names that are easily told apart, for obvious reasons. Marked on charts and resident within the navigation systems of airliners, these points are used by air traffic control to give directions. The people who were tasked with assigning these things tucked an Easter egg or three into the scheme. For example, today I learned that two of the nav points in the vicinity of San Francisco are PIRAT and ARGGG. --G. -><- Benjamin D. To the north of Diego Garcia (in the Indian Ocean) there used to be WOTTA, BUMMA and MUMMA from left to right. There is an amusing thread on this at https://www.pprune.org/dunnunda-godzone-pacific/22623-amusing-waypoint-names.html
