Hearty agreement, on most, though admittedly Nanami isn't quite one of my favorite things; she's grown on me in the UF-context, but not really further, since here is the only place I know her. The journal bit is really neat, not to mention efficacious; though I struggle to call to mind that to which it might refer, nonetheless it is quite clearly in the Lovecraftian vein, deliberately, of course, and set the mood for me very well indeed. I await it eagerly.
