Kate likes tonewheel organs too, but a) the transistor ones have a distinct sound as well, b) the thing about futzing with the pot on the repeat board to simulate the "Baba O'Riley" sound on an organ that doesn't have the Lowrey TBO-1's "marimba repeat" function is a real thing, and c) if the one in the Light Music clubroom was a Hammond, left standing there neglected for that long, it wouldn't have worked when Kate tried it, and the whole scene would have died a death. :)
