A couple articles in Entertainment Weekly about Korra at NY Comic Con. In this article, they talk about Steve Yeun from The Walking Dead joining the cast of Korra as Wan, the first Avatar. spoiler-ish link (sorry if someone's spoiled - I've lost track as to what characters are known and unknown)

Then they have an article about the Korra panel. Panelists were Co-creator/executive producer Bryan Konietzko, co-executive producer Joaquim dos Santos, Janet Varney (Korra), PJ Byrne (Bolin), and Steve Yeun (Wan).

Among other things, they showed the first half of the upcoming one hour episode (Beginnings Part 1, air date Oct 18, and I'm not clear if part 1 is on Oct 18 and part 2 the next week, or if they're going to do it in a 1 hour block on Oct 18).

There ARE spoilers about the episode(s) in that article - if you don't want to be spoiled, do not read the paragraphs headed (in bold) "Footage screened" and "Snap judgment". link

The latter, I believe. At least, my TiVo claims that this week's episode is an hour long. Then again, Nickelodeon is only slightly better than Cartoon Network at hitting published time slots and providing accurate information in general to whoever does the TiVo directory, so, you know.

I can confirm that they're airing both parts of Beginnings this Friday, and also that they're taking next week off for whatever reason.

Buzz from NYCC is that at least the first part is pretty goddamn good, so there's that.

So apparently the first Avatar was Aladdin. Wonder if he has a monkey-lemur companion.

Also no signs of bending and since red and green architecture is in close proximity, this may be before the four nations. Interesting, although Wan's introducing himself to Korra had me eyeing the fourth wall nervously for cracks.

Is it me, or does Wan look a LOT like Sokka?
