Nah, heck, the wave motion rifle had an almost-cameo in Code Name Ultra, not that many years ago.

Funnily enough, though, the battleship Yamato in UF is only named after the WWII ship, it's not supposed to be the same one. This is on account of the ship in Space Battleship Yamato does not actually look a damn thing like the battleship Yamato, and so much for animators doing research. :)

So if there is, for instance, a Fog replica of the WWII Yamato, we don't have to worry about anyone mistaking it for one of the WDF or RSN Yamato-class ships. Totally different. As for the actual item itself, it's presumably still at the bottom of the Pacific.
